Still want that new character controller so we can do more things for game worlds! I want directional gravity man!
I love all the work on VRAM management, and all the work being done to improve fidelity of content!

Looks intently at runtime SDF generation. Can’t wait to get my hands on that SDK and play with some cutout.
Is the SDF shader code going to be available to use in the SDK, and are we going to be able to provide pre-built SDF textures?
It’d be really fun if each dev update had a “favorite bug” whether unresolved or resolved. I do agree it is nice, since it improves the feeling that the devs see what we see.
Would love to see you make a successful VRChat competitor since you clearly got some big ideas. :3
It’ll get there! I’m hoping we can make both that and runtime SDF generation available to creators sooner rather than later.
The coverage function will be readily available to add support to existing shaders, but sadly we can’t really make the transparency available for Quest avatars for the same reason it isn’t good for regular transparency (overdraw)
I suppose we could look at SDFs for opaque textures? That’d let you have extremely precise features on toon-style avatars…
Ah dang, so I get to update all my vrchat sdk calls again for my toolbox hahaha but am actually surprised you guys didnt do this sooner with the animations, you can call the Unity editor in house to do some crazy stuff already but having sdk level animation controls is a really nice touch ![]()
Rage bait
Are you kidding?? The tween method is a HUGE deal, as well as the RAM optimizations for stickers and emojis. People are always asking them to optimize the game, and when they do, now people complain??
honestly that would still be really appreciated – from a toon style questie avi creator lol
My reaction:
The last time OP had something that wasn’t a Booth baddie was a Milworm by AceJay from the Developer Update for November 20, 2025.

I wonder if there are licensing reasons for this representation, if the type of Booth baddies shown by VRChat is - intentionally or unintentionally - biased to represent the official avatar look of VRChat, or if it’s something else.
no news on the box contacts and global colliders? i can’t wait to use those to augment yet simplify my avatar’s interactions.
everything is marked “available soon in a futur SDK update” but no timeline is given. is this a big one?
also will a box contact with 0 width and height just behave like a raycast for contacts without rotation? that would be nice… or add a collision layer for contacts that would also solves the need for this
These are some really good optimization updates and I’m hoping this helps a lot with performance, especially with avatars and worlds.
On another note, could we please get an update so we can filter out AI generated content?
Since this is client side, and not converted on the server, does that mean you might add options? I don’t really care about stickers, so on android I’d probably be okay with having them get compressed down to a 12x12 block size.
Sadly my attempts at ASTC6x6 were a mess - cross-warp contention ended up with black dots everywhere. 75% reduction’s worth something, though!
(well, 50% for SDFs since we split them out)
I’m curious if it’s possible to get a progress report of some kind, even if internal experiments aren’t perfectly polished yet.
I’d love to know where things stand.
I understand that some milestones can’t be measured in percentages, but ultimately, knowing ‘something’ is better than ‘nothing.’
For instance, I’m interested in any updates on the animation controller improvement plans, CPU usage optimizations, or the feedback you’ve collected so far.
