Independent advisors appear to confirm that it is indeed the KB5066835 update that introduced the bug. The issue appears to be related to the HTTP/2 protocol.

Temporary fix without uninstalling KB5066835:

  1. In the registry, navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters

  2. Under the Parameters folder, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  3. Name the value EnableHttp2Tls and set its data to 0 (zero).

  4. Repeat the process to add another value named EnableHttp2Cleartext and set its data to 0.

  5. Restart the machine.

I don’t understand why they have to use that M…WebView2 tool when it would be easier not to use it and whenever there are updates and etc it gets screwed up, stop putting that thing to make it work since it’s useless.since depending on something else that you don’t control for your program to work, is not genius.

by uninstalling the latest Windows 11 update i messed up my PC i’m reintsalling windows since windows 11 is so messed up now i’m factory resetting my PC losing 12 avis that are under work

For everyone concerned about this- I was able to get the white screen to go away by uninstalling a windows update - specifically this one - restart computer and you will be good to go

So windows is slow rolling out some updates, check your updates tab to see if you got it. I got the update and creator companion is working again.

Was the update you downloaded the 25H2 version? Thats all I see in my update tab, but i’m wondering if that’s just something else.

Just updated to 25H2 and it loaded after reboot.

Having an identical issue here as well. I’m on 24H2, but obviously the Creator Companion site says it has general compatibility with windows 10 and 11. I would expect a fix some time in the future, but I don’t know. Really don’t feel like updating to 25H2 after going through the hoops to get windows 11 working in the first place.

ERR_CONNECTION_RESET I’ve seen a lot of screenshots with this as the error, not sure if its in text anywhere.

finally something constructive

it might be a bug with the newest windows update, in the mean time you should be able to access your projects from unity hub, you’ll have to download the packages manually if you need any of them but its heaps better than nothing

This worked for me

Update: I switched from 24H2 to 25H2 and the problem disappeared. I don’t know if this will help anyone else. Just adding my experience.

I am currently having the same issue. No matter how many things I do to try and fix it with past work arounds and fixes, but nothing has worked. Does anyone know anything that could work?

You haven’t specified what sort of work arounds you’ve looked at, the ones in this very thread, or elsewhere?

Like this particular problem is only a day or so old, and its big enough that it’s not a VRChat Creator companion specific problem, it actually is a windows problem, and so techie news has covered it: Microsoft update breaks localhost in Windows 11 • The Register

hey yo i just woke up this morning and checked my creator companion and it loaded! huzzah!!!

I looked at the old fixes from 2024, renaming the localhost json file, redownloading webviewer, uninstalling and reinstalling. However, I tried all those while not knowing it was the windows update that broke it. Thank you for the web page, I will look through it soon.

anyone know any fixs for it beside getting rid of the update?
