Vrchat freeze

Since few days, vrchat freeze a lot.
it’s completely random, sometimes will work perfectly fine for hours, and others time will repeatedly freeze. i see when it happen my fps go directly to zero and then go up again to the maximum.
it never happened before, and seems to only happen when use pc or pcvr.
I tried stand alone and seemed to work.

I tried clear cache, uninstall and reinstall the game, i updated drivers, i tried play with and without steamvr, with and without headset.
I don’t know what to do

It appears you’re experiencing performance issues with VRChat. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that might help you resolve the problem:

1. Check for Background Processes

Identify and close any unnecessary background applications or services, especially those that consume significant system resources. This can enhance VRChat’s stability.

2. Adjust Power Settings

Ensure your device is set to “High Performance” mode in the power management settings. Avoid “Power Saving” or “Balanced” modes, as they can cause fluctuating performance levels when running VRChat.

3. Revert GPU Driver Version

Consider rolling back your graphics drivers to an earlier, more stable version. Newer drivers can sometimes introduce instability, so using a previous version that worked well with VRChat might resolve the issue.

4. Disable SteamVR

If you’ve tried running VRChat with and without SteamVR, consider completely disabling SteamVR and launching VRChat directly in non-Steam mode. Compatibility layers from SteamVR can sometimes interfere with specific hardware configurations.

5. Monitor Temperature and GPU Usage

Utilize tools like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to check your CPU and GPU temperatures. Overheating can lead to FPS drops and freezing. If high temperatures are detected, consider cleaning your PC or improving airflow.

6. Check for Windows Updates

Ensure your operating system is up to date. If a recent Windows update is causing issues, you may need to reinstall specific updates or revert to a previous version to maintain compatibility.

7. Adjust VR Settings

If you’re using VR mode, try lowering the VR settings or reducing the resolution to see if it improves stability and performance.

8. Additional Support

If these troubleshooting steps don’t resolve the issue, I recommend reaching out to VRChat support for further assistance: [https://vrch.at/support]

I hope these steps help improve your VRChat experience! Let me know if you need further assistance or have any other questions.

i still have the problem,
i saw that my gpu drop to 0% and my cpu drop too when it happens
i updated my gpu drivers but problem still there

Troubleshooting GPU/CPU Freezing Issues in VRChat

Hey there! Thanks for the update. It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating issue where your GPU and CPU usage drop to 0% during freezing. This might indicate a deeper system problem. Here are some steps to help you diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Your Power Supply

  • Make sure your power supply is working properly and all power connectors are secure. An underpowered or failing PSU can cause sudden hardware drops.

Step 2: Run Stress Tests

  • CPU: Use tools like Prime95 to stress test your processor.
  • GPU: Use FurMark to stress test your graphics card.
  • Keep an eye on temperatures and performance during these tests to rule out hardware failure or thermal throttling.

Step 3: Test Your RAM

  • Use MemTest86 to check for memory errors. Faulty RAM can lead to system instability and freezes.

Step 4: Disable Overclocking

  • Revert your CPU and GPU to their stock settings, as overclocking can sometimes lead to instability.

Step 5: Monitor Background Processes

  • Use Task Manager or Process Explorer to identify any background processes that might be causing system interrupts or hogging resources.

Step 6: Test Other Applications

  • Run other demanding games or applications to see if the freezing is specific to VRChat or if it’s a broader issue.

Step 7: Reinstall GPU Drivers

  • Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to cleanly remove your current drivers.
  • Download and install the latest drivers from your GPU manufacturer’s website.

Step 8: Check Windows System Files

  • Run the following commands to repair any corrupted system files:
    1. sfc /scannow
    2. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Step 9: Try Windowed Mode

  • Test VRChat in both fullscreen and windowed mode to see if the freezing is related to your display configuration.
