Loading up VRChat in Desktop freezes whole PC suddenly

Hey all! I’ve been using VRChat desktop mode for ages now, over 800 hours. I went to load up today and I got to the connecting screen to enter the home world after logging in, and my whole PC just froze. Absolutely no response.

I’ve tried verifying the files, deleting the cache, reinstalling. Cleared my graphic drivers and reinstalling them. But nothing is working. Just freeze after freeze. Please can someone help? Was there a dodgy update recently done?

I can think of three suggestions you might not have tried.

  1. Load into a different world. You should be able to launch VRChat into a world from the website
  2. Try a different avatar
  3. If you’re on steam try the open-beta channel, its usually a different build, occasionally its the same build as the regular channel

I haven’t had any trouble in VRChat today, used both desktop and steamvr
