Long load times

recently when ever i try to load a world it takes forever for it to load. my internet appears to be working well.

What do you want us to do? Complain to your router company?

This can sometimes be related to network issues (as Marshal badly suggested).

Look into if you can use a different DNS like 1.1.1.1 or 9.9.9.9, see if you are running in a limited/shared network like in a university or something. If you have a VPN that can also impact.

The thing is there is so many reasons why your load times could be slow, but if it changed suddenly, try to remember if you changed anything in your environement, installed a new software, changed something in your room, and maybe you can find the cause.

On my first install of VRchat on my windows 10 desktop I had the same exact issue.
Super slow world loading, slow avatar loading and videoplayers simply did not work.
I scoured the forums, sent non-returned emails to vrchat support and never found a solution.

It would work fine on quest standalone, but on my destkop it was extremely slow (10+ minutes to load an avatar).

My solution was to reinstall a fresh install of windows and even then it seemed like every-other time I fired up VRC it would be the same problem.

Now, i’m back in the fourms trying to figure out the root problem because I’m on Linux and having the same issue.

I would suggest starting out with this troubleshooting guide:

Yes, a fresh, clean install of windows 10 and a fresh clean install of linux Mint (different motherboard, graphics card and hard drive) both have the same issue, but a Quest 3 headset running standalone does not? The quest 3 on the same network has zero problems, but as soon as you fire up VRChat through steam problems start immediately.

Did you try the troubleshooting guide I linked above at all? What on it have you tried?

Again, I’ve already been through your entire troubleshooting guide, including dicking with the router settings such as DNS.

And again, everything works fine when using the headset as quest standalone, but even if I take my PC to another property, with fiber internet, there’s long load times and queueing.

To directly answer your question: the only steps I haven’t done are using cloudflare’s Warp tool, and turning off ipv6.

I’ve tried the entire troubleshooting guide with windows 10, gave up, and then installed linux mint and ran through it again top to bottom.

Here’s what I got to enjoy 5 minutes ago when I went to a weekly meetup:
You can see avis and cubes, all of them say they’re “queued…”

Why didn’t you try to turn off IPv6? Are you ising IPv6 for your local network or something?

The use of the Cloudflare WARP app helps check if it is an issue between your PC and Cloudflare, so that is usually a really good troubleshooting step.

I know little about Linux, so hard to really suggest troubleshooting on it.

But if you say it is still slow, then it could be hardware related. What are your PC specs? Network card?

What if you use USB-tethering with your phone? Try to disconnect your wifi and use the cellular data.

FUN FACT! I’ve actually changed my entire motherboard, including the ethernet network card, AND tried using a usb3.0-ethernet adapter, as well as used wifi on both motherboards, and a wifi dongle.

5800x, b570 chipset, GTX1080, 64gb ddr4 ram.

Also had issues when it was a 5600x and a b550m ds3h motherboard.

AGAIN
the quest 3 I have works fine standalone, it’s not a network problem.

Can’t tether the phone, there’s no cell service within 20 miles of my house.

Cloudflare warp (One Client) is not available for my operating system.

Disabled ipv6, and HOLY SHIT IT STILL DOESN’T WORK!

Try limiters, fps limiters, lower resolutions, and quest airlink has a bitrate limiter. It could help stabilize things.
