i play via steam. i use steamvr (and i also play with virtual desktop) and avatars dont load and they turn into the error robot. it’s the same even without playing on vr. whenever i try to join worlds the icon doesn’t load and when i try to join it just sends me back to my home world. i don’t have this issue when i play on my oculus by itself :(
That sounds like either a performance issue on your side (if the pc has low specs) or it is a performance setting that is set too low.
Can you check your safety settings and the avatar performance limit in your settings. Those are both settings that will hide avatars for performance reasons.
