Recently, several community members have approached me with concerns about privacy and control over their shared content in VRChat. Many of these individuals were uncomfortable voicing their concerns directly on the forums, so I’m bringing this to your attention on their behalf.
The primary concern is the need for a feature that ensures any shared pictures, emojis, and other content are no longer accessible to users who have been blocked. This would address privacy issues and prevent misuse or continued access by blocked individuals.
Request Overview:
I propose the development of a feature that automatically revokes access to all shared pictures, emojis, and other content when a user blocks someone. This enhancement would safeguard the privacy of the content owner and mitigate risks of unwanted use or exploitation of shared assets.
Feature Details:
Automatic Revocation:
When a user blocks another user, all shared pictures, emojis, and other content should immediately and automatically be unshared with the blocked individual.
Manual Control Option:
Provide users with an option to manually unshare specific assets at any time, enabling more granular and proactive control over their content.
I want to highlight how incredibly helpful Newelol has been within the VRChat community. He has not only guided me and my 8 friends in effectively using the VRChat forums and navigating the platform but has also made meaningful contributions through his insightful posts and efforts to enhance safety for everyone.
This post stands out as particularly impressive—thoughtfully crafted and impactful. It’s the kind of proposal that genuinely deserves serious consideration for implementation.
While it’s clear that Newelol is not employed by VRChat which he makes clear, his dedication, positive influence, and ongoing contributions make him an invaluable part of the community. My friends and I strongly believe that he should be considered for a role within VRChat. Despite facing challenges in the past, Newelol has demonstrated resilience and a genuine commitment to improving the platform for everyone.
Thank you for your advice; however, I already have all the necessary information regarding VRChat to handle any potential situation effectively.
After careful consideration, I’ve decided not to proceed with the suggested approach. Currently, there are over around 100 relevant posts in the appropriate section, with 30+ of them gaining significant traction. In comparison, this forum page has just six active pages, and my post is among the most recent. Within six hours, it has received 16 views and three interactions, which I find encouraging.
Additionally, I’ve already received several messages on Discord from people thanking me for creating this post and agreeing that it was a valuable contribution.
I’d also like to express my appreciation for your presence on the forum. I’ve seen your responses on other posts, and it’s clear that you’re respected by many here. I hope our paths cross again in the future, and perhaps we’ll have the chance to collaborate.
