When attempting to download worlds and avatars, downloads fail and cause me to return to home world or just see avatars as errors

I’m having issues with my connection to VRChat. I have 2000+ hours in the game without any issues but within the last 2 weeks things have gotten almost unplayable.

My first issue is when starting the game, it has a chance to give me the “Disconnected. Failed to connect to VRChat. Verify connection and try again.” error anywhere from 1 to 5 times and suddenly it just works and lets me in. This also sometimes happens when I attempt to switch worlds.

Once I get in, my home world will either load normally or I will be sent to the default home. From this point, when trying to join other worlds, the download progress bar shows up for about a quarter second and then starts loading my home world again. If I keep attempting to join the instance, it will eventually work but I have to just get lucky. Another thing that I’ve found to work better for me is preloading every world before joining but in the same way that the automatic world download fails and send me back home, the preload fails and I have to keep clicking preload world until it actually starts to download and then I can usually get in unless another connection error pops up.

Another issue is with downloading avatars as in the same way that worlds most of the time fail to download, other people’s and even my own avatars fail to load and become errors. Sometimes even the world or avatar thumbnails are just the “No Image Found” error. Same with the new stickers. Turning off and on their visibility which is essentially the same as retrying the download in the world’s case causes them to load eventually but again it’s just super frustrating having to go through all of these hoops just to play the game.

This is a list of things I have tried so far:

I cleared vrchat cache.
I verified vrchat files.
I uninstalled vrchat and deleted local vrchat folders.
I updated windows and graphics drivers to the latest.
I completely reinstalled windows and upgraded from 10 to 11 onto a brand new SSD.
I allowed vrchat through my firewall several times and even completely reset my firewall settings to make sure I didn’t forget something.
I restarted my PC and router several times.
I disabled my IPv6.

All of that and still getting the same problems since around October 9th. I’m completely out of ideas and don’t know what to do.

I don’t have a fix but I remember this happening a lot until I moved.
Some people use network limiter, you can also do a packet drop test to see how stable is your internet.

Thanks for your reply, I actually did figure out that it was my network. I had suspicions it was just because of the nature of it failing to download things but I still tried everything. I ended up getting a new router and it has been working like normal ever since. I guess my router was just old and wearing out.
