What going on with minor safety

At this point, VRChat has become widely known for its large number of proven predators and heavily over-sexualized spaces, yet the platform still allows users as young as 13 years old. While I personally do not believe 13-year-olds should be permitted on the platform at all, I also want to highlight another major issue.

On 5/5/26, only three days before I posted this, Milo Murphy uploaded a video documenting his experience creating a new account as a 13-year-old user. Within just a single day, he was exposed to multiple inappropriate situations and environments inside the game.

Even if we temporarily set aside the issue of predatory users, which we absolutely should not, why are minors still able to freely access inappropriate, non-age-locked groups and content so easily? It feels as though the platform is prioritizing cosmetic, space-themed paid content packs over urgently needed improvements to minor safety and moderation systems.

Yes, parents are ultimately responsible for monitoring their children online. However, platforms also have a responsibility to create safer environments for minors, especially when it has repeatedly been shown that many parents are unaware of what their children are being exposed to in these spaces. When those protections fail, minors are the ones who end up negatively affected.

So my main question is this: why is minor safety not being treated as a higher priority within this game? If these issues are already so easy to encounter within a single day on a fresh account, then clearly the current systems are not doing enough to protect younger users.

I highly suggest people watch this video for context and understanding more about it: https://youtu.be/11qT05uOIwE?si=oEBWcHGxe6N6ELCk
