Rules on RenderDoc

I was wondering if there were any rules about using RenderDoc on VRC for testing local worlds (specifically custom shaders).

Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing any harm since I find RenderDoc to be really useful when it comes to doing any final optimization on shaders. Thanks!

When you’re doing a local test, EAC doesn’t activate. I’ve never used renderdoc, but hopefully you can easily have it only activate when you intend.

I did some testing and I’m able to get everything launching fine while using RenderDoc. I guess I was just wondering whether or not I’d be breaking rules like no tampering or what not.

I managed to get it working by just having the game launch without EAC and watch for world builds.

@tupper hey :slight_smile:

(i think its fine to renderdoc the client while npt “online”, but i figure bother the PR guy about it)

I have no idea! It depends entirely on how RenderDoc works and I’m personally unaware.

However, since the wish is to test worlds, and local test can run without EAC, that’s probably both the safest and a sufficient option.
