Low fps and i dont know why

ok so i have upgraded my system a little bit recently and i now have a ryzen 7 5700x3d, 32 gigs off ddr4, and a rtx 2070. i know that with this setup i shouldt expect 100 fps in public lobbys but the issue is i have somwehre around 30 fps all the time in my HOME its the default home btw. also i use an avatar with a yellow performance rating so neither should be the issue. i have checked the link settings and couldnt find anything that helped. when i lowered my resolution in the meta app my fps were still as low with the addition that now i also had low resolution. i dont know whats going on or what to check anymore. i looked at the task manager and nothing was really used to its fullest. Temps were low and everything should have worked. im growing increasingly frustrated since i have taken many steps to find the cause of the issue. please help im a little desperate at this point

I may be wrong, but…

In PC gaming, there is a thing called “bottleneck”. A bottleneck happens when one component can’t keep up with another, causing the faster part to sit idle while it waits. The slower component becomes the limiting factor, dragging down overall performance - no matter how capable the rest of your system is. CPU and GPU are usually the main culprits.

In much simpler terms:

  • If you have a fast CPU, but a slow GPU - that’s a GPU bottleneck.
  • If you have a fast GPU, but a slow CPU - that’s a CPU bottleneck.

That said: A modern CPU (2024) -vs- an older GPU (2018) = you’re probably dealing with a GPU bottleneck right now.

I know what you mean but my gpu is not at its limit while playing. It’s somewhere around 60% of usage and at a temperature of 57 degrees Celsius. As I’ve stated in my original message non of my components seem to be used to the fullest for some reason. I also have a friend with a gtx 1660 super and he gets around 70 fps in the home world alone.

try unity 6 beta. try changing the power plan in Windows, sometimes AMD for some reason messes with things it shouldn’t and constantly creates problems out of nowhere, for example, like here it creates its own power plan in the system

Antialiasing 2x, try with the default Robot avatar. FX performance is not calculated in avatar performance ranking.

That is sadly not the problem. I tried it and it didn’t work

Replied to two other posts about low fps or laggy gameplay. Might be your GPU software limiting frame rates, for vrchat specifically. Or in-game frames per second limit.

Posting screenshots of my replies to those two other posts.

Thank you but it isn’t exactly locked on 35 fps sometimes I’ll get 10 more or 10 less. I’ll check anyway and get back to this tomorrow but I doubt it’s this issue :/

Also, for your computer, do not use power saving mode or silent mode.
Use balanced.

Windows 11 settings → system on the left → Power and battery → Power mode → Balanced for both plugged in and on battery, it says this for me because i use a gaming laptop.

If you have software like G-Helper, you can change it from there too

(off-topic)

This software is for ASUS ROG laptops, right?

I like to note ASUS ROG laptops have a faulty ACPI implementation in the UEFI BIOS, causing stutters. It’s fixable with a UEFI BIOS update.

i heard its for asus rog laptops, i have a rog zephyrus, but i heard other laptops can install it too.

Again, thank you, but I have an msi motherboard and it’s a tower pc not a laptop
