I can't change my avatar from pink to normal colors in unity, changing shaders to poiyomi won't work

Are you in Android/iOS upload mode? You could try restarting Unity to refresh the materials.

Loading the model with the correct Unity version (after importing the model with UniVRM) did the trick.
