The August 14 developer update announced that upload, tweak, or update via SDK2 would no longer be possible starting November 3.
Is the October 10 announcement related to that? Or is it about SDK3?

The loss of the “Legacy” avatars is like the end of an era. I understand why, but i’m nostalgic and it feels like the VRChat I fell in love with years ago is disappearing more and more every day. RIP

The way they’ve phrased it, I think they want all new avatar uploads to use 3.9.0 or newer

Looking at the changelog at https://creators.vrchat.com/releases/ I suspect this is the important detail:

and some changes to how Avatar IDs are assigned.

But maybe they’ll be more forthcoming with why after they flip the switch.

This avatar is so obscure it’s not even on the list,
but my friend has used Corgak consistently for years since starting VRC.

Its usage rate might be very low, but thanks to that, Corgak has become such a distinctive presence that it’s practically synonymous with my friend.
Perhaps because it was created with Morph3D, there’s no original data available,
and I was worried about when it might become unusable. So seeing this old avatar get attention like this is a relief.
If possible, please add him to the Avatar World too. And hopefully, keep the SDK updated so we can keep using it!

Corgak and many other avatars (like Nikei) were not on the Legacy row.

The Legacy avatars are the avatars that we introduced with the Quest 1 update for VRChat. They were intended to be easier on the low-end hardware of the Quest 1, so we had very strict requirements for them.

The older avatars that were around before Legacy aren’t in our menu at all anymore, they were removed entirely quite some time ago, although the IDs may or may not still be public.
