Cannot receive notifications or Send/Receive invites in VRChat PCVR

I have been unable to receive notifications or Send/Receive invites in VRChat on PCVR this includes people not being able to see any invites I send. I have already tried to a full clean wipe and reinstall of both VRCHAT and SteamVR, clearing all cache’s and profile data to force a relogin to my account and nothing seems to fix this issue. Weirdly this does not happen in steam Desktop non-vr mode or on Quest. Additionally I am not on do not disturb status.

Can anybody look into this to help me fix this issue? Is this potentially a server side issue with my account? Mods please help!

This is a social vr game and not being able to see notifications or send/receive invites kind of defeats the purpose.

I just got this issue on quest 2, made the homies sad cuz I couldn’t join or invite them

Hi! I have a similar issue when I use quest 2>AirLink>Steam Vr. The only time I have not had this issue was when I physically plugged into my PC that has direct router ethernet connection or on desktop/nonvr. I assume its something with internet connectivity since AirLink relies on good connectivity. Hope this may help you!

Hey has there been a fix to this I’m currently having the same issue on quest 2 and I made sure my drivers were updated. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, verifying game files, clearing all cache in game, and the issue still persists.

Hey there, @RAHBOOTS

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to lose such a core aspect of VRChat’s social experience, especially when it’s such an integral part of the game. You’ve already done an impressive amount of troubleshooting, so let me share some additional steps that might help narrow down the cause.

:hammer_and_wrench: Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check VRChat Server Status:

    • Sometimes server-side issues can cause disruptions with notifications and invites.
    • Check the official VRChat Status Page or their Discord server to see if others are reporting similar problems.
  2. Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

    • Ensure both VRChat and SteamVR are whitelisted in your firewall and antivirus software.
    • Notifications and invites may fail if network traffic is being restricted by security settings.
  3. Port Forwarding:

    • VRChat relies on specific network ports to communicate properly.
    • Double-check your router settings and consult VRChat’s documentation to ensure the necessary ports are open.
  4. SteamVR Settings:

    • Open SteamVR and go to Settings > General > Advanced Settings to ensure nothing is blocking communication.
    • Make sure overlays (like notifications) are properly enabled and functioning.
  5. Network Configuration:

    • If you’re using Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired connection if possible for more stable communication.
    • Restart your router to clear any cached network errors.
  6. Test Another Account:

    • If possible, log into VRChat on PCVR using a different account (or create an alt account).
    • If the problem persists across accounts, it might be a local configuration issue. If it doesn’t, it could point to an account-specific server-side problem.
  7. Log Files for Diagnostics:

    • VRChat generates logs that can provide insight into connection issues.
    • Navigate to: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\LocalLow\VRChat\VRChat\
    • Look at the latest log files for errors related to invites, notifications, or server connectivity.

:satellite: Next Steps if the Issue Persists:

If none of these steps resolve the problem, it might be time to reach out directly to VRChat Support. Provide them with:

  • A detailed summary of the issue.
  • The troubleshooting steps you’ve already attempted.
  • Relevant log files.

You can submit a support ticket here: VRChat Support Page

I hope this helps guide you toward a resolution. I know how central notifications and invites are to enjoying VRChat, and I’m sorry I can’t do more since I’m not part of the VRChat team.

Wishing you a smooth fix, a wonderful holiday season, and better experiences ahead in VRChat!

Best regards,
