If source files are contentious with both avatar creators and end users then it feels like it should be something that is optional (opt-in / out) within this system!
It doesn’t seem right that it’s just one way or the other based on initial interviews or discussions with a limited amount of creators.
As a creator, I do not want to sell anything to users if they can not access source files. Iteration and personalisation is something that’s not possible from within the game itself and is a huge part of avatar culture.
As it currently stands, from my perspective, what’s being proposed here is less than ideal for both creators and end-users:
- users have lack of ownership
- users have lack of customisation / personalisation
- creators cannot provide source files from the Marketplace itself
- creators are prohibited from advertising source files elsewhere (additional value for users!)
