I think this is a good concept, but I have a few questions and concerns.
(I am not an avatar creator in anyway so don’t take everything I say as a pure fact. These are my own thoughts and opinions)
Questions:
If you buy a model do you get the files to it so you can customize it in unity? If not then I think some creators might stick to gumroad because one of the few reasons they upload the files in the first place is so people can customize the model themselves.
Concerns:
I feel like that this may lead to most, if not, all avatars being something you have to buy instead of being free which may or may not have a negative impact. I would be pretty mad if I wanted an avatar but the only way I can get it is by having to buy it. Not everyone has the money to buy everything and it could very well cause many people to quit VRChat and find something else.
What may start as an idea to support creators may end up as turning the game into something full of micro transactions.
Problems with VRChat +:
The main thing VRC+ does is give you extra slots for the already free avatars. So if most models become something you have to buy then what’s the point of keeping it if all the owned avi’s you have are stored in it’s own section with unlimited storage? I think with VRC+ should work kinda like Roblox premium where you get a certain amount of VRC credits a month.
