recently launched a new face tracking function for mobile using just the camera, will we have this for computers too?

As of 2024, Face Tracking is currently available only for VR users with compatible headsets that support eye and facial tracking, such as the HTC Vive Pro Eye, Vive Focus 3, and Vive XR Elite. At this time, there is no official release of this feature for desktop mode (non-VR) users, similar to the functionality offered on platforms like Roblox, as far as I am aware.

That said, the possibility of adding face tracking for desktop users has been discussed previously. If you’d like to share your thoughts or stay updated on any future developments, you can submit feedback or explore existing discussions on the VRChat Feature Requests page.

Additionally, you can contribute to the conversation by posting in the Latest General Discussion topics on the VRChat Ask Forum to help raise awareness and gather support for this feature by making a topic.

VRCFaceTracking is the most widely used face-tracking system for avatars. you can use it on desktop if you have an iphone or android phone.

  1. Download and Install VRCFaceTracking here.

  2. follow the setup Instructions for the phone your using
    Android Setup

    iPhone Setup

  3. enable OSC in VRChat

  4. switch to a avatar that supports VRCFaceTracking.
