2025 is almost over! We have another creators roadmap update for you, which provides an overview of completed and upcoming features for world and avatar creators.
Please remember that it’s not a complete list, and that our plans might change.
Completed Roadmap Items
Since our July 2025 roadmap, we completed most of 5 out of 8 announced roadmap items. We hope you enjoy the following new features:

Avatar optimizer
We’re working on a new feature for the avatars SDK! It’s still a work-in-progress, so all details below may still change:
The avatar optimizer runs automatically when you build or upload your avatar. It intelligently generates atlas textures and combines meshes and materials to reduce the number of draw calls, improving performance.
- You can configure the optimization settings to preserve certain blend shapes, skip generating atlas textures, or disable the optimizer entirely.
- You can preview optimized avatars before uploading to check if the optimizations worked correctly.
- At launch, only the Standard Lite and Toon Standard shaders will support material merging and texture atlasing.
- If you’re a shader developer, our documentation will explain how to make your custom shader compatible with the avatar optimizer.
Once we’re ready, our goal is to test the avatar optimizer in a closed beta to collect more data on its usefulness and to inform our next steps.
Recurring Payment in Group Stores
We removed this feature from our roadmap, but it’s still under consideration. When this feature was suggested, group stores were the only way for creators to sell listings. Today, the Creator Economy also includes world stores and the avatar marketplace, so we’re prioritizing features that benefit the Creator Economy overall.
