It’s almost autumn! Time for an updated roadmap for Avatar and World creators. Let’s take a look at how the roadmap has changed.

Completed Roadmap Items

Since our May 2024 roadmap, we completed 7 out of 13 announced features for creators. Not bad, right? Here’s what you now have access to:

A native SDK implementation for multi-platform publishing sounds really exciting! Congrats on knockin’ out more than half of what was previously listed, and thanks for the roadmap update :smiley_cat:

Thanks! Yeah, I’m proud of how much the VRChat team got done - and there’s other exciting stuff shipping soon, too!

… By the way, @Table, thanks for helping with the VRChat wiki! I’m hoping we’ll see lots of pages for avatar and world creators!

What happened to ETAs for the upcoming features ? Any specific reason why those weren’t included this time ?

There are a few reasons - Canny isn’t very flexible when specifying ETAs. It might be nice to say “Late 2024” or “Early 2025”, but we have to specify months.

This also makes maintaining the roadmap harder! And we think it’s more important to give you roadmaps regularly :smile:

I’m actually proud that we hit most of our ETAs! Maybe we could have kept them - thanks for the suggestion!

Oh interesting, first time finding out Canny had some feature for “estimation” :smile: But yea, understandable, not being able to say date ranges like “Late 2024” etc… can definitely complicate things.
Possibly you could note than via a pinned comment in canny ? And set the canny’s own estimation thing to the last month of the date-range ?

Very excited for those two (currently) closed beta features!

Also Udon 2 of course.

Glad to see the roadmap has been working out fairly well, given that a lot of features from the last roadmap have been shipped!

(Also, don’t know if all of the links are intended to be accessible to everyone or not, all the creator economy ones are restricted)

They’re not! It’s a special Canny board for sellers. There’s a note about it:

Restricting the board makes it easier for us to focus on feedback from actual sellers. We have a different board, but it’s mostly about the CE from the perspective of buyers, not sellers.

That’s actually crazy to see all the things that got done in that period of time.

That being said i keep in mind that as part of the team has been reduced, it’s normal to have to wait for the new upcoming features. I hope the company finds the right balance between technical advancement and financial stability, all for the good of the platform.
