To be more specific, the world I tried to join (Ribbit’s Room by ~Ashy) is the only world I have problems with in VR. The world loads normally when I’m not in VR, but in VR, it crashes a few seconds after it starts loading. I’m assuming it’s something with Steamvr, but I’m not sure.
Hello!
This sort of sounds like either a steam vr error, world specific bug, or you may be running out of VRAM when joining the world.
I think something you could try is verifying the game files for vrchat, clearing the games cache from settings in vrchat, or/and updating your GPU drivers.
Actually I know this world! It is not too big so I do not think you are running out of VRAM but you may try clearing the cache still incase something went wrong and its just stuck like that. A more troubling fix would be to reinstall vrchat/steamvr but i would save those for last resorts of course.
Also vrchat may have a crash log at:
“C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Temp\VRChat\VRChat\Crashes”
Which may reveal more information!
If it is soo confusing you can maybe post the last say 50-100 lines of the crash report here or on paste bin for us to look at! :))
Pastebin wasn’t working for me for some reason, so I put the last 200 ish lines into a google doc.
Hmmm
This is weird for sure because the last line is:
[AVProVideo] Using playback path:
MF-MediaEngine-Hardware (640x360@30.00)
It just cuts off with no errors. The world fully loads and the video player fetches the video and begins to auto play with no errors so I don’t think it’s the video player. Did you try any of the fixes I suggested or any new ones?
I reinstalled both Steamvr and vrchat alongside reinstalling my gpu drivers. The log showed the exact same result, it suddenly stoped out of nowhere.
I’m not sure how much this would help, but when the world is loading, it says “Initializing World” and then the screen starts shaking around before a black screen. What’s worse is that I checked to see if the world would load on desktop and even that crashed.
(Edit: The world finally works on desktop, but only after I reinstalled my gpu drivers)
(Edit 2: I’m also seeing a weird trend when I join the world on desktop, then in vr, and back to desktop. I join on desktop, the world works fine, join on vr, it crashes, join again on desktop, it also crashes.)
Hmmm okay with that trend you are seeing I think VRChat might be storing something in the cache for when you try to join on VR and crash which then affects you on Desktop.
It is seeming like the GPU drivers are the problem but ofc that can get complicated. I would look up your current driver version and the issue you are having in google to see if anyone else is having that issue with your same gpu and maybe you can find something there!
