I think there’s just a bit of confusion between Zendesk the platform and our support page. We only ask for a login (username/email/password) so we can stay organized with your tickets. What you’re describing sounds like an account with Zendesk themselves.
Like i mentioned this is an account in our Zendesk instance. This does not require anything other than Username/Email/Password. If you click on “Sign In” it takes you to our login page, not the general global Zendesk page.
another proton user here. definitely annoying at least that this is still blocked. a single email adress for a single site. this’ll be fun in a month or two when i cant log into it and in return, vcr.
why cant i change my email to a proton one? if the issue is people using it to avoid bans n shit, they wont make an account and change the email address after creation would they? let me use my main emaillllll
Proton is an email provider (among other things) similar to G-mail except it doesn’t record personal data and is a lot more secure. It’s the most popular choice for those who are concerned about their privacy online or need a secure email account.
Since it is so common some people on vrchat, including myself, want to replace their linked G-mail with their proton account but it appears to be blocked by vrchat, I’m assuming because the privacy features may also make it easier to bypass a ban or something. Unfortunately for people who have basically abandoned their G-mail in favor of their Proton this means they can’t switch over completely.
Hi!
Finally decided to pay for Proton and started to transfer over accounts from my Gmail to Proton. I am so surprised to see its still a blocked domain by VRChat. That is utterly ridiculous. Please reconsider this so that i’m not forced to create a burner email solely for VRChat and nothing else…
So your response is a straight up lie that has already been disproven in multiple other messages in this thread? that many companies use proton without any issue? how can you have a userbase of vr furry users, aka massive proportion of insane tech nerds, and be this close minded about privacy focused emails. Is it really based on “internal monitoring” that you determined people paying for an email are more likely to be scammers than people using a free, and equally as easy to make email company (people seem to have differening success with switching to pm.me, so if it’s blocked or not it’s still a vrchat issue with allowing or blocking certain domains, and making a new outlook or gmail doesn’t require any information either just like proton, they just collect more data throughout your usage of the email), or is it more to do with your corporate share holders? Since i fail to see any reason in 2026 why proton would be blocked, where among all platforms i’ve used this is one of the few that actually blocks proton. pair this with eac and it’s corporate backers and ties with persona for age verification which has been tied to government surveillance and vrchat starts to seem less like a social chatting app.
I’m also here after migrating off Gmail to Proton, and being surprised that VRC is one of the rare companies blocking Proton domains.
I don’t know what your threat model is, but its hard for me to think of one where blanket banning a reputable domain is the best answer. Was there really that much misbehavior coming from pm.me accounts, which are paid subscription only?
Proton has only gotten more popular since this thread began. It’s the biggest encrypted mail provider. For all I know, in 2023 blocking it was the right choice for VRC at the time, but now surely not, right?
Maybe it’s time for another risk assessment? Me and a lot of people would be grateful
