VR World completely kills my Internet

I’ma try to explain it as good as I can…

Equipment: Vive Pro, 9PT FBT, 4 Base Stations; Asus Router

What happens: Internet completly shuts down for all devices connected to that router. Effects both wifi and cable. It won’t come back while still in that world.

When it happens: Most likely around 4PM EST, when joining an event setting with 20 - 80 people. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesnt. It is really inconsistent, also regarding the same worlds. Being in the home world does not effect that issue. Once VRChat is closed, the internet will come back after around 3-5mins. Will crash again when trying to rejoin. It is not linked to specific worlds. Joining the same world from another PC in Desktop does not result in that issue.

What I troubleshooted so far:

  • Restarting Router
  • Restarting VRC, SteamVR, PC
  • Reinstalling VRC, SteamVR
  • Updating/Reinstalling Drivers
  • Upgrading Router Firmware
  • Joined at maximum shield level /having everything off/low that’s possible
  • Joining in Half-Body/
  • Trying a different ethernet cable
  • turning base stations off
  • restarting base stations
  • updating equipment

I am happy about any other ideas I could test.

I forget if it was Spectrum or something else but on reddit there was some people with bugged out routers that would die if you tried to view an rtsp stream

Try searching your logs for rtsp?

rtsp is low latency video streaming.

As @docteh notes, its probably an issue with your router. ISP-provided routers are often cheap, low-end devices that have overly obstructive rulesets or cannot handle certain types of traffic.
