It’s probably a long shot posting this here, but I’m at a dead end. I’m trying to prepare a mesh and its textures (ripped from a UE4 game) so that I can create an avatar with them. I can open the mesh just fine with blender, but the only textures in the form of image files are normal maps and messes of red, green, and blue shapes. There are loads of .mat files, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use them. I understand that 3ds Max can use them as material libraries, but whenever I import them into the program they’re just empty. I also understand these red/green/blue textures in the form of materials are used for instancing in the UE4 engine, but I cannot figure out how to import the files I want into UE4 in the first place. I’m seriously at the end of my rope. Has anyone else tried ripping ue4 games for avatar creation? What did you have to do?
