But there is summer – and you know what that means! It’s time for our (now!) annual Summer Festival Jam!
This is a revival of last year’s Summer Music Fest Jam, with a few changes. This year, we’re focusing on Avatars and Group Events.
What are the vibes? You tell us! Unlike last year, where the theme was “music festival,” this year it’s a bit more flexible. What does a summer festival feel like to you? That’s what we’re lookin’ for.
Here’s a general overview of our multi-part Jam:
- This is a public Avatar Jam!
- We’ll showcase Summer Festival avatars in a special row in August
- We’ll showcase Group Events in August matching the theme

Important Summer Festival Jam Dates
The Avatar Jam will begin accepting submissions on June 23 and will close on July 21. (Check the VRChat website for your localized times!)
The submissions will be judged from July 21 to July 31.
From August 1 to August 15, we will announce the Jam winners and feature Group Events that are hosted in collaboration with Summer Festival Jam, such as DJ events, talk shows, meetups, and more. Keep an eye out on our socials for news about this!
From August 18 to August 29, we will feature a special avatar row celebrating the Summer Festival theme.
What Avatars Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for avatars that emphasize “summer vibes at the beach,” whatever that may mean to you! This theme matches last year’s Summer Music Fest Jam.
Your avatar has to be ranked Medium or better, and be cross-platform compatible (PC, Android, & iOS).
The avatars will be judged in the following categories:
- Summer Vibe-iness - How well does this represent a “Summer Vibe”?
- Overall Style - Is this really fashionable and appealing to users?
- Performance Rank - Is this avatar Medium or better?
- Extra Features - Does it have extra toggles for customization? Does it have additional features, such as face-tracking?
Some extra, important avatar requirements:
- The avatar must have been uploaded after the start of the jam.
- The submitted avatar should be around 152cm (~5’0") to 180cm (~6’0").
- The avatar must have both PC, Android and iOS version.
- The avatar must be built with Avatars SDK 3.0.
- The avatar must abide by the Terms of Service.
- When submitting the avatar, you must accurately describe any third-party assets that you used.
- You may not link storefronts such as Booth, Gumroad, etc in the avatar description and image. However, you may link to storefronts in your bio.
- The avatar submitted should be an original creation.
- If the avatar submitted is derived from some other content, the original license must permit modification, redistribution, and use in a commercial application. You must provide a link to the original content, including its license.

What About Prizes?
12 Avatar Jam Winners will win the following:
- 1 year of VRC+ (can be split with up to 4 people, if you worked on a team!)
- An exclusive badge for winning the Jam
- Fast-tracked into the Avatar Marketplace Sellers Program
- Their Avatar submission will be added to the Public avatar row on VRChat
- Opportunity to submit a single Avatar (purchaseable or public) to be featured in the special Summer Festival row at the end of August
