Is There a Better Way to Manage Avatar Favorites? (Tags? Sorting?)

Hey Everyone,

I’ve been spending more time in VRChat lately and, like a lot of people, I’ve ended up with a growing list of favorite avatars. The problem is… it’s starting to feel really hard to manage. Right now, we get a few favorite groups, but beyond that, there’s no real way to organize things.

I’ve got chill avatars, goofy ones, seasonal ones, and stuff I use just for certain friends or events—but flipping through pages to find the right one is a bit of a pain. Sometimes I forget which group I even saved something to. I’ve even tried renaming avatars before uploading just to keep things straight, but that’s not ideal either.

So I’m wondering:
Would anyone else find it helpful to have a way to tag avatars (like “funny,” “event,” “stream,” etc.) or even just manually reorder them inside a group? Maybe even add a search bar to favorites?

Curious how other people are dealing with this—any tips or creative workarounds you’ve come up with? And if any devs are reading this, is a better organization system on the radar at all?

Would love to hear what others think. Thanks!

Yes please, some kind of tag or folder system would be a lifesaver. Scrolling through a massive list of saved avatars with no way to organize them is such a pain. Even basic sorting options would make a huge difference.

I tried organizing mine by vibe once and ended up with a group called “uhhh maybe?” and another called “too powerful to use casually.” Now I just guess and click until something feels right. A tag system would save me from my own chaos.

I use my recently used page as a second favorites. It’s not efficient and I have to recycle avis I care about, but it works.

I think having a tagging system and removing the concept of favorite groups altogether would be a perfect way to solve this problem.

However, this is anti-VRC+ unfortunately. There are a lot of design features that exist within VRChat because they are trying to make money.

I think there are other ways for them to make money that could allow them to overhaul the world and avatar favorites so they aren’t so limiting. But for now, I don’t think that’ll change much.

For example, they redid a bit of the UI for avatars because of the marketplace. This could have included a fix to solve the clunky avatar favorites system, but yeah.

Absolutely feel this, my avatar list is all over the place too. Tags or a simple search bar would make a huge difference. It’s such a small change but would save so much time digging through pages.
