It keeps giving me this, or similar errors every time I put in a link to a video. I’ve been using it for a while with no issues. I’ve tried about 100 different fixes and nothing has worked. From basic fixes to complex ones too.
Which video player are you trying to setup / use ?
NONE of them work. Every video player in every map says it.
Video problems in VRChat can be split into three categories
- YouTube
- Networking (maybe you’re gettng blocked by cloudflare to a not-youtube server)
- Software. Specifically I came across a world that uses AV1 video encoding, but if you’re in that world, they like explain it in that world.
If it is YouTube, you’ve likely tried a few applicable fixes, but at the end of the day, YouTube is interested in cutting off ad-blockers and bots, and that is how they see the traffic from VRChat…
Well, that’s cringe and they should stop it.
It’s a persiting issue for EVERY video player too though.
Could also add that most of the times people unable to use YouTube just have their IP blacklisted / YouTube being banned in their countries.
I met a lot of chinese people. VRchat use YT-DLP in the backend since the have YouTube (and most of google service banned) video doesn’t load for them.
Bypassing with a VPN on vrchat is sadly a pain because VRChat seem to block blacklisted IP from using the game :(
Yeah, a VPN didn’t work either.
And I live in the US, and I watch YT regularly and have a YT channel that has 10K plus subs. So I don’t think it’s that I’m blacklisted.
Try using YT-DLP from CLI with verbose or debug option it might show an error. And Vrchat might be encountering the same.
