For months I had trouble with the video player not working on every platform. Same issue.
BUT I wasn’t having the problem UNTIL I did the PC download that is a popup after the first few times you close the game. Saying something like if you let them install it then you can click on links and it’ll take you into instances in vrchat through the link and ETC.
At one point I had to factory reset my PC because it was bugging hard. I got back on vrc after and players were working fine.
Sometimes I switch from desktop to VR mode. And for the first 5 times I closed the game after the reset it asked if I wanted to do the download. After that 5 times, the glitch started happening again.
The glitch in question is when I go to use a video player it just gives a strange error that apparently only I have seen. Because only the people that hang out with me have seen it when with me only.
”Media cannot be played, maybe due to invalid format”
That is what it says. The video player doesn’t matter because it is the same error on each player. The world doesn’t matter either. YT search, popcorn palace, my home world (ApoFoxBunker3), also sunset bar. (Sunset bar because I host events)
All of them give the same error. I can’t play videos or watch videos that other people start playing.
VRC customer service said they can’t and won’t do anything to help. I’ve spent months trying to figure this out. I’m not a tech wizard so I don’t have all the answers. But most of the people who I do know who are good with PC and tech stuff, have no clue why it’s doing that and spreads to all the platforms I play it on.
And yes, it still happens if I play on a different device and account.
My internet isn’t the problem, I’ve had the same internet as long as I’ve played the game.
My firewall and antivirus isn’t the problem, it’s the same deal, I’ve had the same antivirus since before I started playing about 3-4 years ago.
I’m completely at a loss. I’ve tried just about everything under the sun that I could find.
If ANYONE has even a tiny idea that maybe just might work, like only playing through steam instead of through meta and steam, or something. Throw any ideas you have out there, let’s see if any of them stick.
