In VRChat, communities and group spaces are often the central hub for social interaction, events, and user engagement. However, one ongoing concern is the unrestricted access granted to Visitors—users who have not fully integrated into the community or have not met the standards set by the group. These Visitors often have access to areas that may not be conducive to the safety, comfort, or enjoyment of established members. Additionally, nuisance users—those who engage in disruptive or unwanted behaviors—pose a further threat to the community atmosphere. This problem has become more significant as VRChat continues to grow, and there is an increasing need for better tools to manage access and maintain a safe environment for group members.
Proposal:
I propose the integration of a access control system that allows group administrators to set permissions and rate limit the entry of Visitors and nuisance users to certain instances. This system would give group owners and admins more control over who enters their spaces, providing greater peace of mind for those concerned about safety and community wellbeing.
