I'm getting a weird loading error and I need help

I cleaned the vrchat cache after updating my windows yesterday and I started not being able to load any worlds or avatars, I now open vrchat and it starts loading repeatedly (starts loading, 100%, black screen, loading, 100%, enters wrong world) I can’t preload, can’t see the models, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled vrchant, tried all the solutions regarding networking but to no avail, I checked the log (Error while downloading Asset Bundle: Couldn’t move cache data ‘’ into place ‘C:/Users/ln834/AppData/LocalLow/VRChat/VRChat/Cache-WindowsPlayer/1D1164EFD3D92351/51709c67000000000000000001000000’ when caching AssetBundle ‘https://api.vrchat.cloud/api/1/file/file_9beeacca-dae2-416d-8cbd-5f7423e2e51b/1/variant/security’) This error keeps coming up and I can’t seem to get the cache to build, hopefully someone can help。Follow-up: I tried using my friend’s vrc cache, and I was able to enter vrchat, but I still couldn’t enter a new world without the cache and couldn’t see the new avatar. When I tried to enter a new world, the screen went black after loading and I returned to the previous room.
Follow-up on 2025-2-19: I found a temporary solution. I enabled the Windows administrator account and used the administrator account to play vrchat, but I still didn’t solve the problem of playing with my own Microsoft account. It might be a strange permission problem.

This might not work, but have you tried verifying game files? In Steam, right-click VRChat, then click Properties, go to the Installed Files tab on the window, and click “Verify integrity of game files”.

Thanks for your reply, but I already tried verifying the integrity and that didn’t work.

Interesting, sounds like VRChat is having trouble accessing it’s own user folder.

I would be tempted to rename, not delete “C:/Users/ln834/AppData/LocalLow/VRChat” to something else while VRChat is closed, and see if VRChat makes a new one

It’s quite possible that at one point VRChat was accidentally ran with administrator privileges

Also how much space is available on C? I once had an issue with windows where running certain program would cause 20gb to be added to the virtual memory while I was running it. Normally fine but I only had 20gb free at the time!

Thanks for your reply. In my test, vrchat can create a cache folder but it seems that it cannot create a cache file in (C:\Users\ln834\AppData\LocalLow\VRChat\VRChat\Cache-WindowsPlayer\xxxxxxx). My friend sent me a message saying that my cache is in this location. I also tried to start vrc with administrator privileges. I have 50gb in C:, so it should not be a storage space problem.

Odd, it can create the folder but nothing inside the folder?maybe it’s trying to write to a TEMP folder first.

It seems that the problem is in temp. The amplitude.cache file in C:\Users\ln834\AppData\Local\Temp\VRChat\VRChat is an empty file. I opened it with Notepad and there was nothing inside.

try uninstalling using Revo Uninstaller so it is a complete wipe (including registry leftovers) and then reinstall… this should fix all permissions (as the registry is most likely corrupted due the windows upgrade/update/reinstall.
