Subject: Enhancing Accessibility: Bringing VRChat to Xbox to Combat Financial Barriers and Motion Sickness

Dear VRChat Developers,

I am writing to propose an expansion of VRChat to the Xbox Console family (Series X|S and One) by creating a dedicated Desktop/Console Mode version. This is a critical step for improving platform accessibility and growing the VRChat community.

There are two primary reasons why a console port is vital:

1. Eliminating VR Motion Sickness

Many users, even after trying all comfort settings, still suffer from severe cybersickness (VR motion sickness). A console release, played on a standard television or monitor, would allow these individuals to reliably participate in the VRChat community without physical discomfort. This ensures that VRChat remains an inclusive space for everyone, regardless of their sensitivity to VR locomotion.

2. Bridging the Financial Divide

While VRChat is free to play, the cost of entry for the required hardware (a powerful gaming PC or dedicated VR headset) remains a significant barrier. Xbox consoles offer a much more cost-effective and common entry point to gaming than a VR-capable PC. By optimizing and releasing a controller-based version for Xbox, you will:

Open the platform to millions of potential new users globally.

Acknowledge and support users who simply cannot afford high-end computer hardware.

This move would not only be beneficial to your community growth but also demonstrate VRChat’s commitment to making social virtual spaces accessible to all. I urge you to prioritize the development of an official Xbox console version and you can make the avatar animation that looks like that in the menu when the people see this they think you are in your menu.

Thank you for your time and consideration I just need to send this picture so I can send the idea and I don’t know why. It’s me again and I got another idea Feature Suggestion: Dynamic Menu-Open Status Indicator (In-World Animation)

I am proposing a feature that improves social etiquette and accessibility by providing a clear, dynamic visual indicator when a user is interacting with their quick-menu (Action Menu).

The Problem This Solves

When a user opens their menu or goes AFK, their avatar freezes, leaving other players unsure if the person is:

Temporarily busy setting up a toggle.

Stepping away from their computer (AFK).

Experiencing a momentary system hitch.

This results in awkward moments where players may talk to a frozen avatar, assume the person has crashed, or feel ignored.

The Proposed Solution: A Menu-Open Animation

Instead of the avatar simply freezing, the user’s avatar should play a designated “In-Menu” animation whenever the Action Menu is open.

Design Example: The animation could be a simple, recognizable pose, like the avatar taking out a phone or holding a glowing tablet in front of their face.

Customization: I suggest allowing avatar creators to define this “Menu-Open Animation” within the SDK, similar to how AFK animations are handled. If no custom animation is set, a standardized, easily recognized default VRChat animation should be used.

Why This is Better Than a Simple Icon

While other games (like Call of Duty) use a simple overhead icon (e.g., a lightbulb) to show status, a full animation is superior for VRChat because it:

Maintains Immersion: A subtle, animated pose integrates better with the social and roleplaying environment of VRChat than a floating UI element.

Is Clear in VR: An animation is often easier to spot and interpret in a complex 3D world than a small, static icon, especially when viewed from a distance or from the side.

Accessibility and Desktop Benefit (My Core Concern)

This feature would especially benefit players using VRChat Desktop mode (including any future Console/Xbox releases). These players often have to stop moving entirely to use their mouse in the menu, which makes them look instantly AFK. The dedicated “In-Menu” animation would instantly communicate to others that they are currently active but occupied, not away.
