I am reaching out because I’d like an opportunity to develop an inventory item musical instrument that folks can jam with together.
I managed to make a pretty advanced step sequencer with UdonSharp (Cuetar Mk1 is the world title). But, I imagine inventory items will use some other form of scripting if any.
Regardless, I’d love an opportunity to develop something smaller that users can use between worlds.
I can also keep the item very small in storage space as the item will be small in geometry, and use single cycle waveforms as opposed to full length audio samples.
It will basically be a synth that ideally, plays notes on a sequence that the user determines on a grid. Something like that. But, much smaller than the Cuetar MK1.
If there’s any way I can have a hand in helping the development of the items system, please keep in touch.
Items have been said to be using Udon, so it would probably work. Unless they release Soba first, I guess.
VRChat has said that they won’t open up for player created items until the new year at the earliest. But they said they will be taking their sweet time, making sure it is implemented as smoothly as possible.
That’s awesome if that’s the case (Items using Udon or UdonSharp, I mean.).
Yeah I know. This is more of a shot in the dark on my end as I’d really like to test out whatever developer sdk for items they have going on. Even if unavailable to the public. I’d like to help.
I’m not like, a known developer like Big Screen n such. So, its unlikely that they will even see my post (Apparently VRChat team and big screen worked together to make a inventory item.).
But, its worth a shot, as its the main thing I see myself good at; making little trinkets and instruments for people to use.
Plus, its just the logical next step for a true metaverse in my mind. The ability to ‘own’ things and show those things off or do things with them between worlds. I think its a big step.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to get better at developing worlds though on top of that. Because, building VR instruments and interfaces are kind of a niche right now. And yeah.
