I often wonder if I am looking at the same things as other people. What kind of abuse is occurring in the Commissions section? First there are few posts and second there seems to be a lot of people viewing them.
You don’t see the scammer posts because we remove them.
I’m having a great time with the forum as it is.
I’m using it mostly on mobile with notifications on for help posts that I can help for.
I also installed the forum as a WPA (mobile app) on my phone to receive independent notifications.
I still. Need to customize it fully to not receive a duplicate by email, but as it is it works great for me.
Really happy to hear it works well for you on mobile! I’ve tried my best to fix as many of the problems with the theme as i could, especially on mobile!
If you end up noticing anything please don’t hesitate to let us know!
Well, there is something to say but you can’t do much about it. As an WPA app, whatever if I’m using chrome or Firefox, notification seem to not correctly redirect to the page.
I though it was a Firefox bug, but it’s as buggy on chrome.
Guess du’ll just come from time to time check my notifications
Just wanted to drop a little bit saying how pleased i am with the discoverability of the forums here now. Not sure what you guys did, but a thread on a subject that is relevant to vrchat but also to other games that i made recently i was able to just google related text and it popped up on the first page of google results, amongst other sites with similar texts.
One of Discourse’s great advantages is that it is pre-optimized for SEO, so we don’t really need to worry that much about it.
While I do agree with shutting down the Commission Forums I do have to wonder if this will do much in the long run. Scammers won’t care if they can’t use the correct tags and will gladly edit keywords to get around filters, they’ll still spam all the same.
One potential fix is to lean on the fact you need a VRChat account to log into this forum by restricting it to New Users and above. Granted this isn’t perfect either since I’m sure there are plenty of people on Visitor Accounts that will be making perfectly valid posts. Not to mention you can gain New User by simply paying for VRC+. That also said there might be technical reasons that would prevent configuring Discourse in a way that would allow for this to be doable.
However, despite these negatives it might be worth considering or trying out if possible.
