Development Updates
VRC+ Tenure Badges
We touched on this last Dev Update, but in case you missed it:
Users with an active VRC+ subscription who have been subscribed for at least one month will now receive a new Tenure Badge!
These badges reflect your total subscription time across the years. If you’ve previously subscribed to VRC+, that time will be counted toward your badge—whether your subscription was continuous or not.
You can view your badge (and other players’ badges) directly on user profiles!
Similar to the “Supporter” badge, the Tenure Badge is only visible while you have an active subscription. However, if your subscription lapses and you resubscribe later, your badge will pick up right where it left off—your progress is saved!
Tenure is calculated from both personal subscriptions and any gifted subscriptions you’ve received.
For more information on the new Tenure Badges, please visit our community-driven wiki here!
Profile Refresh!
A profile editor dialog will be available in VRChat with 2025.2.1, where you can see and adjust all your profile’s pictures, text, links, and spoken languages from one central place.
You will be able to add your pronouns to your profile. If you set them, we’ll show them on your profile on the web and in VRChat, as well as on your nameplate so people can quickly know how to refer to you.
Don’t want to show them anymore? Set them back to “Unlisted”. You can do this on the web, on mobile, or in the new profile editor in VRChat.
Web Fixes
A couple of small changes from the web team this week:
- We updated the tag editors for avatars which as previously announced unfortunately required deleting the previous tag values. Apologies for the mixup here!
- Fixed an issue that prevented access to the list of mutual friends in a group for some people.
- Updated profile views and editor to add support for user pronouns.
- We have been busy with some other stuff you’ll hear more about soon!
Instance Creation Settings Change
When we introduced instance settings to VRChat, we added an extra step when creating an instance to let you select which features you’d like enabled in your instance.
We’ve since seen from feedback that most users prefer to create the instance using the defaults set by the world author and then change the instance settings afterwards via the Quick Menu’s “Here” tab if they need to, so we’ll be removing this extra step again in our next major release.
Thanks very much for your ongoing feedback around instance settings!
VCC Updates Soon
These updates should roll out to the VCC in the next few months!
