Developer Update - 3 November 2022

Any chance we could get an OSC input that just refreshes your avatar in the mean time? Or if it has to be functional, toggles something with IK. Anything to make the GoGo Loco workaround a bit quicker to work than backing up a few menus to toggle OSC off and on again.

I feel that if such a thing is implemented, it should have a cool down that is the amount of time it takes to go through the menus. Like if it takes 15 seconds, then the OSC can only be triggered every 15 seconds.

Otherwise you’ve added another way to crash people

Two questions, what does “initial release” mean for groups?
Does it mean a live release, a live compatible beta or a non-live compatible beta?
Understandable if it is too early to say.

And anything to report on Steam Audio?

I hope it’s pushed to beta first, then vrchat devs can feel more at ease making changes even after users have had a go.

I’m so excited to see where hand-tracking goes! I’ve been having fun with it, I use ASL (American sign language) quite regularly in VRC and it’s getting close to being applicable but not quite there yet.

Here’s my issues so far with the beta:
- no radial menu access (although this can be accessed with the regular menu, having a wrist watch solution or something would be nice.

- headset stops tracking hands at certain distance. Whilst this is not really something VRC can fix, maybe freezing arms In their previous position instead of resetting arms would be more helpful for ASL users.

- grabbing objects is almost impossible. Pens draw constantly.

- can move on accident A LOT. Hand tracking needs a control settings for reeeeal. Toggle jumping, mic, and movement all together (which exists but could be a quick menu option like interactions)

Keep up the good work, I’m looking forward to groups implementation!

Yes please, i’ve been on VRChat from 1 year and i saw a lot of kids screaming, insulting others and being toxic (I have some kids on my friend list, but they we’re nice and chill)

Sure, but I already do that. I have a single project and use scenes + folders to manage multiple avatars. I don’t need a program to do that for me, and it would be a more common practice if there was a better guide/documentation on how to develop avatars and worlds for VRC.

My post got merged it looks like.

Getting this out of the way in this thread (but I’ll reiterate on it tomorrow):

The discussion we were planning to have in the next Dev Update regarding toxicity and the actions we’re looking into taking has been delayed! We’ll let you know when it’s coming up again.
