Could we get a comprehensive list of expected features of groups in the near future? I can already see that there’s api flags for what i imagine is group-locking instances, but will there be stuff like group-only avatar/world sharing?
In my not so humble opinion, the ability to restrict sharing of “public” avatars to groups could help reduce a lot of les than appropriate content for all age groups from disseminating out of control and leading to unnecessary exposure or repercussions on the owners of said things. Not referring to ToS violating such, but the grey area stuff that is hard to moderate (or is too widespread to effectively moderate) - users would have some more means of filtering suggestive content etc.
Yes, I’ve seen that system, its… terrifying. D: Avatar animators are already one of the biggest heavyweight hitters on performance.
You will get an update eventually, yes! Just not soon.
I assume you mean to ask: “Will the Quest version ever be able to see PC assets?”
If that’s the question, the answer is an easy “no”. With current tech, this isn’t possible. There will be per-platform content on VRChat for quite some time.
… huh. We removed the toggle when we moved to the new MM, but didn’t put a new toggle in. Other team members have the option stuck on, mine is stuck off. You found a… well, not a bug, but a missing feature!
It’s been noted. Good catch.
Nope! It isn’t out yet. You’ll get a list of features when it hits beta.
I can tell you that this is planned for later on, but not the initial release of Groups. Avatar types are looooong overdue for some attention. Their tie-in with groups is just one part of the attention they need, though.
I was meaning more like a list core features that are on the roadmap - in the vein of “what benefits will people get from this functionally” outside of cosmetic features. Something for people to anticipate and be supportive of.
So far, all the general player knows is that it seems to look sorta like steam groups on your profile (where you can be in multiple but select one as the ‘spotlight’) – but that doesn’t amount to much if it doesn’t have actual functions.
It’s good to hear this is on the table, though i will be honest and say i wish it would be a release feature, cuz it’s needed sooner than later.
Groups would be a perfect stand-in for stuff such as content creators having other users make their avatars for them and upload for them, because they could simply make a group just for the commissioner and commissionee (discouraging the security risks of sharing account login). This would suffice until, or even if never created, a system for whitelisting specific users, by letting them exploit the functionality of the groups system.
Ahh, okay. Maybe. The fear there is telling you all about the amazing future, and inevitably it changes or diverts or reschedules. Usually, we prefer showing instead of telling. Much better track record there.
We’ve still got things on the back-burner that we talked about eons ago that we still want to do, but they got reprioritized. And people still ask about them. Rightly so, but… yeah.
That being said, there’s probably some big-picture features we can talk more candidly about soon.
I wish every feature we have in the full design for groups was a release feature.
Nnnnno. We’re not keen on expanding Trust Ranks beyond where they are right now, and in fact, we have spent efforts on making them less pronounced.
Is there a way to fix the Drone Cam while sitting? At points when I’m sitting on something and use the drone cam then use it to fly and position it I will still accidentally move to the point where me and the drone cam are moving at the same time. There’s no issues while standing my body gets locked in place while using the drone, but when sitting or laying (No Full Body tracking just clicking to either sit or lay down on a furniture) I don’t know if anyone else has notice the problem but I use the camera a lot for recording/pictures.
When will be seeing the udon integration into the UI where world devs can add buttons to a world UI page in quick menu as was demostrated in the stream many moons ago. Also add a bloody clock to the quick menu please.
Yeah the trust ranks i, and many others, had a lot of issues with when they were originally implemented because they created a sort of unnecessary class divide in the social environment of vrchat… It helped some things in some ways, but it also generated drama and toxicity. It was nice to see that they got buried in the extended nameplates instead of in your face like a badge. Groups is a much better solution for social organizing for sure – maybe even enough to depreciate trust ranks eventually (aside from the initial unlocking of uploading content).
They’re still quite useful for the Safety system, but I can see us removing a rank or two.
As noted a few times above, that’s one of those things that got mentioned, then got shoved behind other priorities. We want it, but don’t have an ETA. Sorry.
We know this is a pretty heavily demanded feature! Consider your request heard.
I’ve not seen any of these issues myself… this thread isn’t for reporting bugs. Can you post to https://feedback.vrchat.com instead?
Maybe? But aside from the unpredictable nature of visitors, i don’t see any point in filtering between say user and trusted user, or new user and known user. Any of these ranks has equal possibility of having something malicious or malperformant.
Plus we have the avatar hider system now – although having more stuff to configure that by, such as having a full set of safety system overrides for distance, such as only play audio within 5m or only show physbones within 20 etc etc.
you’re right is like trying to be balanced the ranks. I have a question well my head right now thinking you when make a 3D VR cat like a cute one that is run around in your menu animation that will be cute well I just saying that’s all.

Alright I have posted on there. I have another question as well, Somewhere in the future will the camera have more filters or more new features like changing the size of the camera to one’s liking similar to the personal mirror?
Can we please get better documentation of how to implement OSC on the SDK side? There are many issues we are encountering with getting the positional data in cleanly with the existing sdk (for some reason rotational comes in clean,) and we’re struggling to find a stable API to send OSC data from trackers. Any assistance you can provide, even if it’s just recommendations for tools you use to develop, would be greatly appreciated.
Native eye tracking and Face tracking would be really awesome, especially considering most other Social VR platforms already have native Eye and Face tracking and many have had it practically since launch.
