Can't get avatar toggles/dances to work

hi all, i’m fairly new to unity and porting avatars to vrchat, and i’m trying to make custom dances, prop toggles, and facial expression toggles for this avatar, but when i go to test everything, nothing works. the avatar stays t-posing instead of dancing, the props remain invisible when toggling on, and the avatar’s face stays neutral when switching to different expressions. i’ve watched about 5 different tutorials and tried different methods, and it’s frustrating because nothing looks wrong, but i’m clearly missing something and i just don’t know what. please help, i feel like i’ve tried everything and i don’t know what else to do. here’s the avatar i need help with (i removed some custom dances due to them not working, so the only ones that are SUPPOSED to work are the default ones & the spooky month dance)

First, sorry i’m not downloading a random zip file from the internet to help. That being said there is a few topics that you could explore.

First toogles, those are to be done on the FX animation controller of the avatar, that’s the one that you need to update and assign to your avatar Playable Layers | VRChat Creation . When you create an animation for it and trigger it with a combination of animator parameters and vrchat parameters and menus. Doing that would be a first step because doing full avatar animation is to be done on another layer and is a bit more complex to explain.
For that the clearer tutorial i would recomend is the one from Sipp’s https://youtu.be/XqtSg6_W07Y

If you prefer a more writen version for toogles, i would recommend the vrc.school documentation for that Toggles | VRC School

Hope you can figure it out.

understandable. i was eventually able to get it working using vrcfury’s toggles, but thank you for the help!
