I have a very specific problem in which it’d be nice to be able to route each audio channel from VRChat to seperate channels on my computer. Specifically, something like an advanced setting where the user can change say the world audio to go to a speaker system while keeping everything else to the defaults.
My specific example is when going into clubs and such where I would like the world audio to be sent to my AV receiver while the other channels like voice are still sent to the headset.
Perhaps something like a little drop down on each channel that lets the user select an output device while defaulting to the system default as it currently does.
Sorry if this post is a bit of a mess since it’s my first and thanks for your time :D
Routing audio channels independently, especially in a scenario like VRChat clubs, could enhance the user experience significantly for those with advanced audio setups.
From a testing and feasibility standpoint, implementing an advanced audio routing system would likely require:
Audio Channel Separation: Ensuring that world audio, voice chat, and other audio sources are isolated within the application and can be routed independently.
Device-Specific Output Control: Allowing users to assign specific audio streams to different audio devices (e.g., AV receivers, headphones, or speakers).
User Interface: Adding a dropdown or similar control in the settings menu to allow users to map channels to devices intuitively, while still defaulting to the system audio settings for simplicity.
