It would be nice to switch between different menu designs with VRChat. With VRC+ you can change the menu colors, but I think they can take it even further with diffrent menu designs, with one example being the old menu design along with the old sounds.
I concur. This would be an awesome addition to the game to bring back that old legacy feeling of VRCHAT! The old menu felt so much better to navigate through and the spaceship sound was also great.
I agree this would be awesome im filled with so much nostalgia i need it my bro. It would make a lot of more money too. I’d invest in VRCHAT+ if that were to happen. Of nourse they’d take it into consideration
a lot of the buttons and options didn’t exist in any of the older versions of the menus it would be very difficult to keep the older menu designs and the new features. it would also be difficult to support two or more different UIs,
menu sounds might be possible but a bit niche
How dare you!
I mean if it were to happen they could just add another tab. Or just incorporate it into the menu if possible
This is preferencism! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UI3SJhEkqk
As a longstanding user of VRChat, I am advocating for the reintroduction of the old menu option. This feature holds significant value for users who have grown accustomed to its familiarity and functionality. Your consideration in implementing this change would be deeply appreciated by myself and many others within the community.
Same. Me playing VRChat long time. Miss old menu. Old menu good. Bring back old menu. Players like old menu. Us happy.
Thats actually a pretty cool idea. Been thinking about that (color change included) since a long time.
“VR Legacy UI”
As someone that genuinely almost vomited out of disgust for the new UI, this is something I thought of almost immediately and I still think it would be really cool
It’s a neat idea in theory but rather costly with minimal payout from a dev perspective.
Under the hood both UIs are very different so getting both to work at the same time is already going to be challenging from a technical perspective. Not to mention the old UI doesn’t really scale well so backporting all the new options/features to somehow fit into it would be next to impossible. Oh also that means VRChat now has even more things to QA test if a change to the UI is made since a simple edit to the new UI could cause the old one to explode violently.
The most you can likely hope for here is VRChat brings back the idea of the beginner/simplified UI that was tested but sadly abandoned prior to public release.
I’m used to the new UI, but I miss the spaceship sound FX of the old menu and wish that was toggleable. Please at least bring the old sounds back.
File a Canny for that yet?
This would be cool but as some others pointed out doing this across the entire UI would need them to develop two UIs at the same time just for this option that only some would use, else many new features would not be available or work properly.
However, I could see an option to change the world loading screen back to the old version. As a user with 6k hrs on VR I don’t need to see the loading screen tips, and the older loading screen would just be an aesthetically cooler environment to wait in while the instance is loading.
Should make a post about it on the Canny https://feedback.vrchat.com/
Though I kind of doubt they’ll do this as it would take a lot of work as they’d have to essentially recreate the entire old menu using the current system. They can’t really drag and drop the old one in.
Plus they’d have to implement all the new features and settings that have been added since then, and essentially maintain two different menus. It’d unfortunately just be a lot of work.
At most we’d probably only get a reskin of the current menu to have the style of the old menu but with the same layout as the current menu.
This is what I had in mind really from the start, I knew having a separate UI would be hard and unrealistic. But I’m all for overlaying the elements of the old menu for example the colors, the way the buttons looked, sound effects. Like you said, a reskin essentially
