Over the past 3 days, I’ve been reaching out to Arabic speaking VRChat players to better understand the challenges they face without Arabic language support. The results speak for themselves in just 72 hours, the Arabic language suggestion on the VRChat Localization Discord went from 18 upvotes (in a whole year) to 93 upvotes, showing there’s strong demand and community interest.
From the interviews I conducted with Arabic speaking players, here are the main points they raised:
-
Navigation Difficulties
- Many players struggle with full-body tracking settings, menu navigation, and camera settings because they are only in English. This slows down setup and makes the experience harder for non-English speakers.
-
Broken Arabic Text
-
Arabic text is completely broken in chat boxes and usernames, causing letters to appear disconnected or reversed.
-
Some players have to use third-party tools to flip Arabic text to make it readable something that’s not convenient and discourages casual users.
-
-
Impact of Arabic Localization
- Players believe adding Arabic would make VRChat more accessible for those not fluent in English, encourage more Arabic speaking users to join, and help grow the community significantly.
It’s clear that Arabic support isn’t just a “nice to have” it’s something that would immediately benefit a large group of players and help VRChat expand into one of the most active gaming communities in the world.
