VRchat not working on Shadow PC - EAC Virtual Machine Issue Updates?

Hey,

I don’t think I need to tell you that VRchat is an important part of a lot of your users’ lives. I hope you know that.

I was not able to log in due to work for a while, but I cannot put into words how much I was looking forward to meeting my friends and loved ones in VR and spending time with them for the first time this year. Today, when I finally found some time to do that, I was greeted by the “Does not work on virtual machine” message.

The same issue in december luckily went past me, I did not even notice, but when I saw that message, my heart dropped.

I use a shadow PC as I simply cannot afford the huge investment of buying a gaming PC capable of running VRchat in decent quality in VR. This setup has worked fine for the most part.

Shadow PC support says that the issue is with you, or the anticheat (EAC) on your end. You say in another thread (which you closed, https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/unblock-access-to-vrchat-for-shadow-pc-users) that the issue is with Shadow PC. In this thread multiple people cite ShadowPC support, which says that they have contacted you trying to find a solution.

Are there any updates? What is going on?

It must be possible to reach out to EAC and figure out a solution.

All the best

I wouldn’t get your hopes up, eac doesn’t want memory tampered with so they are not going to allow virtual machines as they are not able to verify what is able to see/use that memory. I honestly wouldn’t risk using a virtual machine too much as it may flag you for client modification/cheating.

The part that just bothers me a lot is that it worked fine for over a year. If it hadn’t, I wouldn’t complain. Why is it suddenly an issue? It was an issue in December, then it was fixed, and now it came back.
Using a cloud gaming setup is the only option I currently have to access PCVR without dropping 1k (probably +) on a gaming rig, money that I don’t have.

If you desperate for VRChat you can desktop it on a cheap laptop. Before Rammageddon at least, used laptops were like $60 with some being less.
