Stuck in "Offline Testing Mode", Can't play game

On valve index, running through steam.

I was trying to go to a different world in game earlier today and for some reason, it wouldn’t let me. When I tried to use a portal thinking it was a menu bug, the game gave me a brief glimpse of an error about how I can’t travel because i’m in offline testing mode, before the game crashed.

Now, after I log in, the game gets stuck on the loading screen for a long time then crashes. Sometimes I get the “offline testing mode” error, or get booted to the “something went wrong” error world.

Please tell me how to fix this, it figures once I actually get some days off something like this happens…

Somehow, opting into the open beta, updating, launching the game, opting back out of open beta, updating again and then launching it fixed my game. I dunno, if you’re getting the same issues try it.
