I’ve separated the DirectShow related fixes here: master to wip/qcap-dshow-fixes · zhineng cao / wine · GitLab
I’m planning to submit these changes first, but there are still some things to do. If all goes well, I can submit a merge request today

You (and senko for figuring it out too) are the MVP(s) for this work and it’s contributors like yourself who make amazing things possible
So Thank you for your efforts and work wherever it leads us ![]()
I will try to test this for you on Linux Mint asap
I also hope the patch will find its way into mainline Proton, especially if it’s stable. And best would be Proton-GE and its RTSP fork, because that’s also something we kinda need.
Can confirm the patched version of proton works on Linux Mint 22.3, both with OBS Virtual Camera and a traditional Logitech USB Webcam.
Edit: it seems to break if you switch worlds with it active though.
Due to some issues and my lack of time lately, I’ve put it on hold for now.
If you need to, you can refer to the code in my repository to submit a patch.
The patched version works flawlessly for me! (ge-proton10-32-qcap-dshow-fixes)
I’m on LMDE 7, Kernel 6.12.74+deb13+1-amd64, with a Lenovo USB Webcam.
I don’t seem to have the issue of it breaking when switching instances. It correctly deinitializes and reinitializes after join.
That’s great work!
@LilFishyChan
I’ve been waiting for some updates on this for ages :))
I maintain the AUR package for proton-ge-rtsp for video players. I’m going to see if I can add the patches to the AUR package, but it would be cool if these could be upstreamed to proton-ge-rtsp or proton-ge if wine doesn’t work out.
EDIT: I could not, it requires patches to the source code before compiling, and I only package bin, but it could be done in a tagged/git package, or by merging the patches upstream or rebasing the patch on proton-ge-rtsp.
I chose to create another package for proton-ge-camera, I haven’t had a chance to test it yet, but if anyone does before I do let me know. I could create one for proton-cachyos-camera as well if wanted.
@ShayBox Hi, I installed it and it does work as expected (adds custom proton runtime entry in steam, with which Selfie Expression works).
Thanks ^w^
This also works great for me too! thank you so much for the work :D
Hi there, I am trying to trouble shoot this bug. I tried the program but unfortunately the inability to use the Selfie Expression persists.
Im running a IW-2000-1 camera
I have the log file but not sure how to send it to you (Im not very tech savvy)
