Since late April, 2025, I’ve been unable to upload Ready Player Me avatars to VR Chat using the VRC Partner site. I’ve checked everything I know to check. Is anyone else having this problem? I’m not sure if it’s a problem with my settings or something internal to VR Chat.
I see all of the avatars that I’ve created and attempted to upload in my RPM account. When I click “Import to VRChat” on the last page, it requests authorization, which I give. It then presents the page that says it may take 10 minutes or more for the avatar to appear in my VRC account. But it never appears. (although it used to. I’ve successfully uploaded 10 or so avatars prior to April).
Again, my question: Is anyone else having this is issue, or is it peculiar to my setup?
I believe everybody is having this “issue”. Check your RPM account by logging in again. As far as I know your avatars are gone and nobody’s saved avatars (on RPM not VRC) are gone. You can create a new avatar and download it but you will be uploading it via a Unity avatar project upload.
Thank you for your response. It’s a relief to know it’s not a settings issue.
Thanks too for the suggestion. I tried downloading an avatar and then attempted to upload it manually to VRC through Unity. But as best I can tell you have to a be a member of the RPM Studio to use their SDK. I’ve tried several times to join over the last few weeks. It appears they’ve suspended new memberships with the advent of PlayerZero. Please (anyone) correct me if I’m wrong.
Try this Ready Player Me it should bring you to the avatar editor.
Thanks again, Tom. I am able to get to the avatar editor without any problem. It’s uploading the avatar directly to VRC where the system breaks down. Since I’ve last posted, I’ve succeeded in joining RPM studio and using Unity to upload to VRC. I’ve only been successful with the Windows version of the RPM avatar. I’m still trying to figure how to modify them for Android/Quest.
The real solution, of course, would be for VRChat or Ready Player Me to repair the RPM/VRC partner page. ReadyPlayerMe. Both org’s have been made aware of the issue, but so far no action has been taken (as of 5/17/25).
Wow… I can’t believe RPM made this so obtuse. I didn’t know the avatars still existed in any form but there they are like you said. I cannot find any way to delete an avatar and it seems intent on creating and saving just about anything.
And I can’t find a way to upload a picture anymore. Quite a horrible UI and user experience I think.
