Mouth visemes doesnt work in game when speaking

i have them set in unity its all showing the mouth stuff, modifiers applied, everythings good. the only thing works is the VRCFury advanced but i want the default settings for selfie expression to track the mouth too but vrcfury doesnt do that. the default visemes mouth doesnt detect in the game. it stopped working all the sudden recently idk its the unity verison or not. i thought i set the stuff correctly as always idk what just happened. none of google stuff helps me at all. they kept saying smth in the FX which ive done that it doesnt work. how do i fix this? i miss the mouth tracking it was so fun. the eye track and eye lids only works its just not the mouth when speaking in game and that.

its all set here

mic is on and i talk in the game it doesnt move at all

this image is when i use the VRCFury’s advanced vismes which thats the only thing works, not the unity default above

If the VRCFury’s advanced mouth tracking and the eye tracking works but not the default VRChat viseme, it usually means VRChat is not successfully driving the viseme parameter anymore, or something in your FX layer is overriding it.

I know you said google kept saying smth in the FX, I’m not sure exactly what you mean but just to be safe, and if you haven’t already, test with no custom FX layer first. Upload it, and if the mouth works then your FX controller is overriding the visemes somewhere.

And ofc just double check the Lip Syncing in the Avatar Descriptor. Make sure the correct mesh is selected.

I’d also check the write defaults. If your FX controller mixes Write Defaults on/off incorrectly, facial states can get stuck. If one state is constantly writing mouth blendshapes, VRChat’s visemes will just break.

Do you know what you changed when reuploading this avi? Did you change the sdk version at all or implement a new system or add new clothes?

srry if my english isnt good

i meant the selfie expression doesnt support VRCF advance visemes component, i had to stick with using that to actually make the models mouth move when i gave up using the unity defaults but now im back at it since i miss the selfie expression funs i wish to make it work

idk what made it stopped working i never messed anything or break something the more i kept making new models. idk its because of animation clips i use for clothing toggles i thought it doesnt mess with the lipsync blendshapes. the blendshape optimizer component wouldnt break it though

im not excatly sure where to find the custom fx layer or whats overriding, i think i checked the layer before it still doesnt work. the playable layers has no customs in it, always set to default

I got very drunk tonight so I am sorry if this sounds bad!
I am thinking maybe VRCF advance visemes component is the one overriding the default visemes! You can try an upload a test version by removing the blueprint id and setting the FX and/or the gesture layer to default instead of anything VRCF related.

You will find the FX layer just on the avatar descriptor! and you can just click the x next to the gesture layer as well as the fx layer and then upload it to test it! and then if it works you can maybe get rid of the VRCF advanced visemes component :)) If you like the VRCF Advanced visemes still maybe you can upload two different versions of the avatar. One with the VRCF and one without it.

Hope this helps mayube i love you!

sadly it didnt work, i tried everything i rly dont know the issue
i checked back my old models with the same default settings so my last model with working mouth tracking was in feb 2026 so i got struggles making it work for past months

Aw mannn! I’m so sorry I couldn’t be more help. If I were you I think my best idea would be to like start from scratch (which sucks a lot but thats always my last resort fix).

New project, fresh avi, import just what ya need/want ofc but basically just having to do it all over again :/

Im so sorry!! I hope you can find out what is causing it sooner rather than later!
