Calling All Social VR Users!
We are conducting a large-scale research project on safety and privacy concerns in Social VR (on behalf of Metaverse Academia and the student body of the University of Washington). This study is gathering insights from users across multiple platforms; including Resonite, VRChat, Rec Room, ChilloutVR, Horizon Worlds, and Roblox.
Our goal is to better understand how surveillance, moderation, and personal privacy are currently being handled in immersive digital environments — and how these systems affect the experiences of users, moderators, and developers. Because Social VR is still a developing field, it’s important to document these perspectives early to help shape safer, more ethical, and more inclusive virtual communities for the future.
Your participation will directly contribute to academic research, community awareness, and future safety practices across the metaverse. The responses gathered will also help open up meaningful discussions between users and platform creators about digital ethics, security, and trust in virtual worlds.
If you’d like to participate, please fill out the survey here: ( Social VR Privacy/Security Survey )
Feel free to share this survey anywhere you know there are Social VR users.
Thank you to everyone contributing to this project! Together, we can help build stronger, safer, and more respectful spaces across the metaverse.
