I’ve tried to verify my age using my Schengen residence permit but after uploading high-res pictures of my id I’ve got the message “Verification Failed Persona could not verify your identity” I know for a fact that the whole process worked in Roblox, which also uses the Persona age verification system.
I’ve contacted VRchat support on Tuesday 17.12.2024 and I’m still wating for an answer to my ticket. I have nonetheless a question:
Will this lockout be eventually lifted? If not, what information will be used to keep the lockout in place? Under Art. 5 Sec. 1 lit.d and Art. 16 phrase 1 GDPR I should have the possibility to correct any inaccuracy that lead to the aforementioned situation (Right to Rectification)
The right of rectification is considering personal data on your account, however this is the attempt of verifying your age/identity. This isn’t PII yet, it’s not stored on your account. Potentially, Persona could be arguing about your identity because you used it before in Roblox, but I doubt it.
Otherwise, the ID could be fake or needs extra verification steps. But this is up to VRChat to respond to your ticket to. Additionally, keep in mind it’s chistmas season, most staff may or may not be off-of work.
Codixer I thank you for your input. And no worries I’m waiting for VRC’s answer, It wasn’t meant as a criticism.

Im sure that’s not how it works. I can’t imagine that the European legislator wanted to leave such a loophole in their legal thinking. The attempt to verify my age/identity is based on information I handed out. That the system failed to identify me means that the controller/processor (VRC/Persona) reached a conclusion using the ID I handed out.
