Moderation in Worlds

I would like to ask a detailed question regarding the implementation of moderation tools in custom worlds. Specifically, I am interested in developing a script that moderates a select group of users based on a whitelist upon joining a world.

I understand that a full ban system is not permitted under the Terms of Service. However, the intended functionality of this script does not involve removing players from the instance or restricting their ability to leave. Instead, it would simply teleport designated users to a specific area of the map upon joining and set their respawn point there. Within this area, they would receive a message explaining that they have been restricted from the main content and are encouraged to exit the world voluntarily. They would remain free to leave at any time.

If this functionality still violates the Terms of Service, would it be permissible instead to teleport such players to an isolated area where they must complete a puzzle or maze to exit, rather than being explicitly asked to leave?

Additionally, could you please clarify the specific section of the world creation Terms of Service that governs this type of functionality? The current language is brief and does not fully explain what forms of moderation are considered acceptable or prohibited.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

The worlds that do this suck. I actively recommend my people against ever using them, for any reason.

Well its meant to put a stop to known hackers, cheaters or players who are stalking the world creator for their own gain. Its not meant to do anything but moderate or in this sense guide the whitelisted player to other parts of the map away from main world content.

There are already existing reporting tools used to solve that exact purpose.

Block them and they literally cannot see you. Report them of TOS violation and with proof they will be sorted by the ACTUAL moderation team.

You can make up excuses to sound justified if you like, we all know this is just a power trip thing. Same discussion with a new hat.

It seems like this has happened to you in a world cause a creator didn’t like your actions or you did something that tempted the creator.

If you don’t mind can you answer my other question? Can I instead of prompting the user to leave the world, can I have them solve a puzzle, go through a maze or enter a code to access the world?

It says it pretty clearly in the guidelines, stop trying to find ways around it.

You may not:

  • Preemptively moderate users by using a static or dynamic “block list” or similar systems

Thank you for your swift response to my question. I will inform a vrchat moderator of this user’s actions of hacking.

The only LEGAL way, alert an (instance) moderator that is ingame of someone has an existing “ban” of sorts on their profile. Then the moderator can spectate/look at them and teleport them to another location if deemed nessecary (Like some worlds having an 18+ inside of a public instance, teleport them to the ban area, if they go to another instance? Ok fine, they’re back again, but if someone reports them to the moderators, or a moderator joins and gets the notification, the mod can do what they need to)

So, retroactive abuse in the form of arbitrary gatekeeping, not actual, you know: Moderation. Instance moderators can kick. Why make it more complicated or more abusive than it needs to be? Now you want to let people spy as a feature?
