DPS penetration shader, orifice shapekeys / blendshapes

the blendshape/shapekeys for my orifice become mangled after generating textures and testing, the shapekeys are responsive as you would expect, but the shapes become about 20-30% visibly distorted when the orifice shapes keys are being played back during testing.

things i’ve tried:
having one big UV island, / fixing overlapping UVs
using different blendshapes
tried poiyomi. xstoon
