Using the Companion would be an awesome and very clever way to solve this.

Marketplace + Asset Tabs that let you download raw assets or even get access to repos would be super cool.

Hahaha. Didn’t notice nya.

VERY nice update! A lot of these news are HUGE for content creation! Plus, some points are already being made on this thread but I wanna request a few things:

  1. Purchased avis should be able to be downloaded as a .unitypackage via the Creator Companion in Unity. Additionally, sellers should be able to choose whether or not customers can download the files or not.

  2. the profanity filter should be customizable so people can add custom words, similar to social media.

  3. Both options of using the game and using other websites to sell avatars should remain intact so users have the freedom of choice.

  4. A pretty obscure one but also important in my opinion: preset UI colors for non-VRC Plus users. This can expand the customizability range a LOT for those who haven’t payed for the service, and can even bring unseen benefits for some individuals.

Hi there!

All user reports are handled with a mix of evidence and context, chat reports being no exception.

I would be very happy if:

  • the ToS of Avatar is always shown before checkout.
    • I use BOOTH in general, but there are a few products that do not show specific ToS in the page. It is unclear to end-user!
  • Support VN3 License (the Project page is written in Japanese, but its generator can generate English variant) specifically.
    • The instances have been widely[1] used among Japanese user
    • This project forms license template
      • many product instances have majorly overlapped clause!

  1. more than 2000 instance on BOOTH ↩︎

This is a great idea honestly. It would give customers instant access to their purchases while also keeping the customization options.

Question here: why is it that the Standard Toon shader on Quest is still basically useless? It’s missing so many features (emissives, hue shift, matcaps, metallics, normal map, specular) the the more physically based shaders include.

Obviously not all of these are necessary, but some are pretty glaring omissions (like emissives, hue shifts, and matcaps). It means that for most avatar creators they’re screwed when it comes to mobile avatars - either look like a nightmarish uncanny valley creation with the dark, ugly shadows of the standard lite or matcap shaders, or have basically nothing but the albedo and missing any details from other material properties.

It feels like an intentional and deliberate attempt to kill off non-realistic avatars on Quest.

Heyyo,
very nice to see that the ChatCatbox got some love.

Though I’m sad to see hotlinking go, I also know what Cloudfront/S3 cost, and it’s very reasonable not wanting to pay for traffic not directly related to VRC.
Sadly, proxying and caching data kinda have some implications that need more clarification. I assume the benign usage of the API is not up for debate, as you have given this heads up to third party sites and want them to operate smoothly through this change.

First of is the license and copyright situation, as third parties would store and distribute material which they technically don’t have a license to. Is that tolerated, and if so in what capacity?
And secondly, 8.3 states that sharing of User Generated content is generally OK as long as it is public. That state can change - if a third party caches content that was public at some point and now isn’t, and they still distribute that, will they get in trouble for that? How long should content be cached until it should be checked again for the possibility of either being privated or deleted?

I hope those things can be clarified such that third parties can continue to operate and can still be able to sleep peacefully at night. Thanks for making such an awesome platform.

Cheers, kube

Reguarding chatbox: Chat box sound
One extra feature that a lot of people want is the chat box noise being on be default, moved to the AUDIO quick menu tab (I’m not sure why it’s not there now, it’s super hard to access to the point a lot of people don’t know it exists).

Also a lot of people have been hoping for a change to the chatbox noise to something more audible, as currently the muffled “pop!” noise is a little too subtle, especially when there are a lot of voices around it can EASlY be drowned out. Having it be changed or having a couple sound options for people would be nice! even like a little chime, or pattern of pops would help it stand out a little more!

Excited for player persistence. Gonna be an absolute game change once that is released.

Concerning Chatbox 2.0, I hope y’all will take my canny into consideration as it would be nice to see some tweaks to the UI for some UX improvements imo.

With the release of Chatbox 2.0 in Open Beta, I wanted to provide some feedback on the chatbox itself, specifically the box used to display messages. I think it would be a neat touch to have an option to display the username in the top-left corner of the chatbox. This feature would be especially useful for players who have nameplates turned off, making it easier to identify which chatbox belongs to whom, particularly in crowded instances. Additionally, it would add a bit of an RPG flair, in my opinion. Another suggestion would be to include an arrow or protrusion extending from the chatbox toward its respective user.

As far as I remember, the original concept of the persistent data was to enable that function. Maybe it doesn’t come right away, but I hope they make it happen so we can have multi-world persistent experiences.

as someone who is mute irl, I do hope that Vrchat is taking into account those who are mute in this community. I wish that for those who are chatbox users fully that they could allow it to always be on and not red so that players like myself, whos only way to communicate with freinds is this, doesnt in the end loose that feature. the chatbox security they overall are doing is great and all but people muting peoples chatbox simply because they have that option all together is limiting for people who dont have a say in the matter, i do hope that there is a work around for this. thank you for also with this planning to update the keyboard to minimize is very helpful for desktop players. :+1:

Ah, I’m really sorry if this is already mentioned, but are stations planned to follow this same update order too? And if so, will there be backwards compatibility changes?

Isn’t the matcap shader like Toonlit + Matcap?

After playing with the reflections for a week, I kind of want a cubemap shader on quest avatars. Like a matcap but better.

Oh I didn’t knew it was originally intended to be, sounds much better because the devs had already considered this. Let’s hope this comes out live!

I want test mode for android avatars for people who have successfully set up an headset through PC Link via steamvr (it would transfer the avatar test data directly to the headset’s files if that is possible to then test it out) (or however worlds currently can be tested on quest but edited for avatars as well).

Hotlinking VRChat Images

I’m a third-party website developer.
What is the cache policy for /api/1/file/* and /api/1/image/*?
Are the contents of these URLs immutable and can they be cached for one year?

I know the filter is enabled by default, but is it an age-locked feature? Might be a good idea to enforce that if it isn’t once content gating is sorted out

I really like this update and I cant wait for Spookality 2024 :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:! I would love for someone to make a world based on Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights that would be Fangtastic
