Can I make game objects follow a player’s movements (hand, arm, leg, foot, location) without having the avatar grab it?

I want to make a sort of jet pack that floats behind an avatar and change it’s rotation based on hand or other body part’s rotation. But I don’t want to use the grab function so that the avatar can pickup things and fly at the same time. I’d also like to make other gadgets that work the same way. Is this possible?
